Heskey Hive: UEFA Youth League, Matchday 4
Bayern's Spaniards, the 'unicorn' of Hale End, and more in our MD4 round-up.
We’re coming into the final stretch of this season’s UEFA Youth League group stage. We won’t lie, it hasn’t been a classic. It’s had its moments but, all in all, it’s fallen short of its usual high standards for drama and intrigue.
Nevertheless, it’s showcased plenty of top-level talent. You’ll be hearing a lot more about those we’ve written about in the coming years, if not months, as they make the leap to senior football. Have a read of our round-ups for more.
A loss for Lens and a draw for Red Bull Salzburg means Barcelona - now missing a core of key starters, who’ve embarked for the U-17 World Cup - are the only team remaining with a 100% record. WWWW.
Elsewhere, the only groups with real jeapordy going into the last two games are the extremely competitive Group D(eath), Group F, and Group A at a push. The others are pretty much set, with Feyenoord and Atleti, City and Leipzig, and Barça and Porto all guaranteed a place in the knockout rounds.
Anyway, let’s get onto the talents of matchday 4. We’ve got Bayern, Gala, Milan, PSG, Atleti, Celtic, Arsenal and more in this one.
