Midfield maestros: UEFA U-19 EURO, Matchday 3
Our scouting round-up of MD3 of the men's tournament in Northern Ireland.
And just like that, the group stages are over. That’s why the UEFA U-19 EURO is good, SCOUTED-friendly fun — it’s not too big nor too rich, it’s a little shot of football tonic that cleanses the stodgy calendar.
What particularly helped this edition is the absolutely terrible summer weather of the British Isles. Instead of sweltering heat and debilitating humidity — as was the case in Malta for the U-17 EUROs back in May-June — these games have been played out in mid-teen temperatures under gloomy, drizzly skies which has retained the athletic and technical quality a bit more.
Stevie and Llew will be back with something (probably a Team of the Tournament) following the knockout rounds early next week. For now, tuck into the final games of the group stage.
In this MD3 round-up:
Inter’s midfield prospect that sums up modern Italy
A couple of standout Ukrainian performers
Molde’s latest find from Norway’s second tier
France’s dreadlocked number six with “elite-level” potential
