Four little-known stars: Scouting the National League
Boasting an impressive hit rate, Orlando Valman returns to pick four more obscure prospects likely to break into the Football League before long.
Since my first iteration of Scouting The National League was published in April 2022, three of the five players I picked out have moved up into the Football League.
John McAtee was signed by now-Premier League Luton Town and is playing this season on loan at Barnsley in League One; Ephron Mason-Clark was signed by Peterborough United and is now their club captain after a stellar first season in the English third division; and Kabongo Tshimanga was also signed by the Posh but is currently on loan with Fleetwood Town, also in League One.
Joe Sbarra would have likely made a move upwards as well by now were it not for a nasty injury sustained against Oldham in March that is still keeping him out of action at time of writing. That just leaves Marcus Sablier, who has struggled to kick on and is now playing on loan down a level at Cheshunt FC, although he’s still only 20.
A decent hit rate, if you ask me.
Here are another four undiscovered players to keep an eye on, this season and beyond. As ever, there are some cracking players hiding beyond the Football League.
